The mission of Keep Brevard Beautiful is to motivate and educate businesses, school groups and individual partnerships to reduce litter, recycle, landscape and beautify for the environmental and economic benefit of Brevard County.
Throughout the year, this organization provides numerous opportunities for volunteers of all ages to participate in programs, including comprehensive beach cleanups, beautification programs, pepper-tree busting and other special events.
“I became committed to KBB in 1991, when I first started working here,” Keep Brevard Beautiful Executive Director Pat Brown said. “Our mission and goals are basic. We just want to encourage and educate children and adults to take care of our county, whether by picking up after themselves, recycling or helping to enhance our surroundings. The green movement is very popular now, but it has been a way of life since the establishment of KBB.”
Brown she enjoys her job, “what we do, the great staff and all of the wonderful volunteers that we work with daily. How can you complain when you get to go clean the beach first thing on a Monday morning or go out on boats to clean spoil islands or at the port? What a job. We all work hard and have fun while doing it.”
Keep Brevard Beautiful’s goal for 2010, Brown said, “is to partner with cities and towns throughout the county to complete wide-ranging projects. My personal goal is to keep KBB moving forward with our mission.”
Whether you are a permanent resident or winter visitor to Brevard, Keep Brevard Beautiful welcomes your support and volunteer services.
